Sportsbook.com Offers Odds on Movie's Success
NEW YORK, New York – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Producers are banking that the star-studded cast of All the King's Men and the hype surrounding the film at the Toronto International Film Festival will be enough to drive people to the box office when the film opens on September 22. Sportsbook.com has posted odds on the opening weekend gross of Steve Zaillian's screen adaptation of Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer winning novel.
The world's largest online sportsbook and casino has set over/under odds on the film generating $19 million in its first weekend, with odds set at -120 for either the over or under.
"Everybody bets on movies at Sportsbook.com and the epic All the Kings Men is bound to grab lots of attention," said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. "With inspired performances by Sean Penn and brilliant directing from Academy Award winner Steve Zaillian, this film will no doubt have people talking once they leave the theater."
The film opens with politician Willie Starks (Penn), a humble idealist whose appeal to the common man lands him the job as governor of Louisiana. His determination to help the poverty stricken state is well received until it is overshadowed by his questionable political tactics. Starks becomes corrupt and his motives become clouded by his insatiable thirst for power.
All the King's Men, a re-make of the 1949 Oscar-winner, boasts a stellar cast including Jude Law (Closer), Kate Winslet (Titanic), James Gandolfini (Sopranos), and Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs).
