13 Dec 2007 has taken one of the most popular card games of all time and made it as fun, easy and as competitive as you want it to be, no matter what level of player you may be.

There 3 different versions: Individual, which pits four individual players against each other, Cutthroat, the same version except with three players, and Partnership, which is played with two pairs of two.

Spades is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The cards are ranked by suit and from lowest to highest: diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades; 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A. All versions of Spades start out similarly, with an equal number of cards dealt out to all players.

Players try to win a Spade hand, or a "trick," by playing either the highest card or the highest spade. Each player has to bid a number of tricks from 0 - 13, or how many plays they will win, and each player is responsible for making their own tricks without the help of a partner. Single players are also allowed to bid nil or blind nil.

Once everyone has placed their bids, the player to the dealer's left will begin with any card except a spade for the first trick. Continuing clockwise, each player in turn must follow suit. If they are unable to follow suit, the player may play any card.

If a player is the first to play a spade during the round, that trick is won by the highest spade played. If no spade is played, the trick is won by the highest card of the suit led and the winner of each trick will lead or begin the next one. Spades may not be led until either a player has played a spade or the leader has nothing but spades left in hand.
