Second time lucky for PokerStars’ Sunday Million 12th Anniversary: Take 2
25 Apr 2018
First place and more than $1 million went to ‘Daenarys T’ from the Netherlands, who described his success simply as “awesome”. After informing his girlfriend of the amazing news, the 24-year-old, who has been playing on PokerStars since 2013, did not let the seven-figure payday go to his head and still took his dog out for a walk immediately after his win.
The Dutch player was determined to enjoy some Sunday Million Anniversary success and rebought into the $215 event, an investment that paid off. Watch the exciting final hand here. ‘Daenarys T’ was one of the entrants who played in the original 12th Anniversary in February, which PokerStars reran due to the tournament missing its guarantee.
The newly made millionaire and all 9,295 players who cashed now have the opportunity to secure a Platinum Pass worth $30,000 to the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) in the Sunday Cashers All-in Shootout Giveaway, on May 5 at 15:00 ET. This tournament is held on the first Sunday of every month for all players who make the money in the Sunday Warm-Up, Sunday Storm, Sunday Million and Mini Sunday Million.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, a table was also selected at random during late registration and nine players were entered into an instant tournament for a Platinum Pass prize. PokerStars ambassadors Fintan Hand and Ben ‘Spraggy’ Spragg streamed the action and witnessed the moment ‘hackrmaenz’ from Norway won the poker trip of a lifetime. Watch here.
This brings the total number of players who will be jetting off to play poker in paradise next year to 84. The next opportunity to bag a Platinum Pass is at EPT Monte Carlo, where a further seven Platinum Passes will be awarded.
