Scientific Games Awarded On-Line Contract for the North Dakota Lottery

3 Dec 2003

NEW YORK – (Press Release) -- Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) today announced that it is the apparent winner of the bid to provide on-line systems and services to the North Dakota Lottery. The contract has an estimated value of $12.8 million over the initial term of seven years and is subject to the execution of a final contract. The contract will also include options to renew for up to three additional years.

The North Dakota Lottery is scheduled to begin selling Powerball tickets on March 25, 2004, and plans to add Hot Lotto and Wild Card 2 later that year. Scientific Games will be responsible for the installation of the central system, approximately 325 retailer terminals, as well as the satellite-based communications system.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen by the North Dakota Lottery to partner with them on the launch of their new lottery," said Lorne Weil, chairman and CEO of Scientific Games. "We have won four of the last five lottery start up bids and have repeatedly demonstrated our ability to deliver fast lottery start ups. We are confident that the North Dakota Lottery will experience a very smooth Powerball launch."

Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, who oversees the North Dakota Lottery, continued, "Scientific Games was selected as the vendor for the Lottery because it proposed the best quality product at the best price. The Lottery is excited to partner with Scientific Games in starting up and operating North Dakota's newest business enterprise."
