Schulman wins $270,000 at US Poker Open

21 Feb 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Nick Schulman took down Event #8 - $25,000 8-game mix for $270,000, defeating a field of 20 entries. At the final table, Schulman found himself heads up with Brandon Adams after Rand Ohel and Chris Vitch were sent to the rail. With this win, Schulman jumped into serious contenting for the overall championship, placing third and within striking distance of Sean Winter and Stephen Chidwick.

Schulman entered the day in second place with four remaining but managed to overtake Adams and eventually defeat him. Adams took home $150,000 for his second-place finish.

"It feels damn good," Nick Schulman said with a big smile after taking the event down.

"There's nothing like winning a tournament, regardless of the field size. It feels great and getting a clear first is exciting."

"I'm wound up for the $50k and $100k, those events speak for themselves. We'll see how this $50k goes and then we'll see if I'll play the $100k. You gotta be pumped up to play with these wizards," Schulman said, looking ahead at what's still to come at the U.S. Poker Open.

The $50,000 No Limit Hold’em event is now underway with 41 total entries and the $100,000 Main Event kicks off tomorrow at 2:00 pm local time.
