CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the Sacramento Bee: "A preliminary court ruling left standing a Sacramento County ordinance allowing some types of electronic bingo, The Bee has learned.
"...If the ruling stands -- a hearing is scheduled for Friday -- it would be a big win for local groups with charitable bingo operations. The groups have become increasingly dependent on revenue from the large slot-style electronic bingo machines.
"The key issue at hand was whether paper cards are needed for games to be called bingo.
"The preliminary ruling by Judge Patrick Marlette said that since the machines allow users to print out paper cards, they were permissible as bingo machines..."
