Rivers Casino's first Capital Region Classic beats expectations

Saladin walked away the tournament champion after defeating Gerald Edwards of Schenectady, New York. Edwards' second place finish was good for $32,258.
The Capital Region Classic was held 24-28 May in the Rivers Casino and Resort Events Center. The $272,655 prize pool was divided among the 137 top finishers.
"We had a fantastic turnout for the Capital Region Classic, and we heard a lot of positive feedback from players who have been looking for big poker tournaments in this area for years. We're eager to keep delivering for those players and look forward to announcing our next big event," said Rivers Casino & Resort General Manager Mary Cheeks.
Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady features a 50,000-square-foot gaming floor with 1,150 slot machines, 67 gaming tables and 16 poker tables. The floor is attached to a 10,000-square-foot banquet facility capable of hosting more than 900 people for conventions and special events, one of the largest spaces in the region. Also on the property are five restaurants, Splash Spa and a 165-room hotel, opening summer 2017.
