Rhode Island Court to Hear Casino Referendum Case

RHODE ISLAND – As reported by the Providence Journal: "The state Supreme Court will hear oral arguments next month on whether a proposed casino referendum is prohibited by the Rhode Island Constitution.
"Governor Carcieri has asked the high court for an advisory opinion. Carcieri vetoed a bill asking voters whether Harrah's Entertainment should be allowed to build a casino in West Warwick. The Democratic-controlled legislature is expected to return from a recess to override the Republican governor's veto…"
