Rebecca Liggero
Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.

Rebecca's Recommendations - September 15, 2005

15 Sep 2005

By Rebecca Liggero
Welcome back to Rebecca's Recommendations! As you sit in your comfortable chair, relaxing, perusing through my newsletter, perhaps even drinking a beer, I am desperately trying to survive on a red eye home from Vegas. Awesome. Anyway, as I'm sure you can only imagine, I will have some fun little stories for you next week, but in the meantime, I have saved a few gems for your review…

For all you college students out there, and that includes you, Charlotte Simmons (ha ha), Absolute Poker will be hosting a "Win Your Tuition" tournament on October 15th. Here's how it works: satellite tournaments will start on October 10th, and 2000 lucky Absolute Poker players will be randomly selected between now and then to participate. The top players in each satellite will be invited to participate in the main event on October 15th, and the tournament champion will have their fall semester tuition paid for by Absolute Poker. If you are ever going to win mom and dad's approval for online poker playing, this is the way to do it. Trust me.

Lastly, just to show you that I do have interests in this world other than online gaming, as I hope you do too, I thought I would throw out a few "this day in history" tidbits and "facts that we'll never need to know yet we can't help but find interesting" for you:

-On this day in 1985, KISS released the album "Asylum".

-On this day in 1988 Tom Browning pitched the 12th perfect game in major league baseball.

-Fact: The Bible is the most-shoplifted book in the world.

-Fact: Up to the age of six or seven months a child can breathe and swallow at the same time. An adult cannot do this.

Pretty cool, huh?
