Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.

Rebecca's Recommendations - December 15, 2006

15 Dec 2006

By Rebecca Liggero
What a ridiculous December this is. I just returned from a poker conference Costa Rica and now I'm off to New Zealand until the end of the month. Remember the trip I won from Kiwi Casino at CAP Spring Break in May? Well the time is finally here, and let me tell you, these guys are treating me like you wouldn't believe- flights, hotels, spending money, rental car, guided tours, AND I get to bring a guest. Who is the lucky guy? I'm not telling. Sorry. Here's the problem though- when I was in Costa Rica I somehow managed to do some damage to my foot. Apparently it's some sort of nerve problem that prevents me from walking like a normal human being, so guess what? The doctors gave me a horrifying "booty" to wear. Yea. No thanks. I'd rather crawl on all fours than wear that ugly thing. How did I hurt my foot? Well, your answer is as good as mine. I don't know. I can tell you that it happened very late on Friday night, and at the time, life could not have been any better. Hey, at least I was enjoying myself when it happened.

Now let me tell you more about my fifth (yes, fifth) trip to Costa Rica. The poker conference itself was rather small- you know, the whole "presenters presenting to presenters" type of situation. I was not a presenter, so I got to sit back and enjoy the lectures which were sprinkled with crowd stimulating Marc Lesnik questions and comments. Out of all the presenters I must say that Eric Morris, co-president of Bluff Magazine, was one of the most entertaining- he is an excellent presenter and his mannerisms are absolutely hilarious. You know what else is funny about Eric? He is obsessed with juice- orange, pineapple, pomegranate, mango, grapefruit, cranberry, kiwi- you name it. He even ordered juice at dinner for Christ sake. Even though Eric has a strange juice obsession, Bluff Magazine is the best poker magazine and forum out there as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention these guys are launching "The Coolest Thing Ever" on February 1st, whatever the hell that is supposed to be. In addition to attending lectures, I was also able to meet with some of my industry favorites such as the Tiger Gaming guys, the Doyle's Room team, the head of marketing at Absolute Poker, the head of marketing at Vegas Poker 24/7, the president of the Poker Players Alliance and the SBG Global and Poker Host entourage. My nights out in Costa Rica were as fun as ever (hence the numb and motionless foot), and I even got hit on by a Tica who claimed she liked me better than her boyfriend (who was standing right next to her). I did not make it to the Del Rey this time around so thank god Michael Corfman, head of Casino City and the GPWA, volunteered to represent in my place.

Well there you have it my friends. Now I'm off to my first two week vacation in many, many years. Sure, this trip might be somewhat industry related and sure, I'm meeting up with the Kiwi Casino and Fastwin Casino team at a beer garden on Sunday, but it's still a vacation as far as I'm concerned. Rebecca
