Rebecca Liggero
Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.

Rebecca's Recommendations - August 4, 2006

4 Aug 2006

By Rebecca Liggero
Six days in Vegas with the online gaming crowd. Not OK. At least I could sleep late due to the Bodog Conference cancellation (God bless David Carruthers!) Alright, before getting started, I would like to clear up a few rumors for you: 1)Calvin Ayre was not there. More specifically, he was not in a helicopter that landed on the roof of the Bodog Party (great rumor, though). 2)There were zero online gaming related arrests and 3)Yes, it is true. I have a new boyfriend. More details on this below. Also, I would like to mention that the bulk of this report focuses on my nighttime activities (fun to read about) as opposed to my daytime meetings (not fun to read about). Believe it or not, I do have an actual job that I am paid for. Anyway, here is my story...

VEGAS: PART ONE. Bodog Conferece (well, sort of)

Sunday, July 23rd.

I left Boston at the crack of dawn, landed in Vegas at 11am, started sweating profusely at the taxi line, and found myself at a 45 minute check in line at the Luxor. I was a vision a beauty. Oh, a piece of advice for all of you: do not ever stay at the Luxor. It is cheap, yes, but my room was like 900 degrees with the shades drawn. After coming to terms with the heat in my room, I decided to head over to the Wynn which is where most of my online gaming contacts were staying. For some idiotic reason I felt the need to walk to the Wynn- I mean, it's only a few blocks away, right? Wrong. One hour later I made it to the Wynn and met my Fortune Room and English Harbour friends at the "European" pool where bikini tops are optional. Translation: we went to a pool full of young guys, one unattractive topless woman, and me. Regardless, I had a nice time with the boys- even got to hear wild tales from Saturday night- but had to take off shortly thereafter to get ready for the big night ahead. Thanks to the generosity of Fortune Lounge, myself, the boys from the pool and a couple of affiliates met at the Mirage to see "Love", an amazing Cirque de Soleil performance set to Beatles music. Immediately following the show we had dinner at "Picasso", a five star restaurant in the Bellagio with over 85 million dollars worth of Picasso originals hanging on the wall. Completely ridiculous. Aside from the paintings, the absolute highlight of this fine dining experience was a 60 dollar glass of tequila that my tequila loving friend made me sip rather than shoot. God, I just can't get away from this guy!! After dinner we walked over to "Light", a popular Sunday night club in the Bellagio, and met up with our friends from SuperSlots and Which Poker for a nice bottle of Dom. Around 4am we went back to the Wynn and ran into the Bodog affiliate managers for a game of late night poker and some more drinks. I think that's about it.

Monday, July 24th.

After a hard day of work, I met my contacts from 21.com, Spin Palace Casino and 7 Sultans Casino at the Wynn for dinner (no walking this time). We had an amazing meal at an Asian restaurant where our food was sliced, diced and sautéed right in front of us. Before taking off for the clubs, my tequila loving friend purchased a round of- guess what?- for all of us to shoot before leaving. Beautiful. Now I was in the perfect state of mind to meet up with my Bodog boys for a big night at "Jet". The line at this place was enormous, but the lovely Doc's Sports guys had already reserved a few tables for the entire group. The original crew began to trickle out after a few hours, but of course I wanted more, so I decided to remain once I bumped into the Pentasia guys, one of my contacts from Royal Vegas Online Casino, and the folks behind Poker Room. We finally left the bar around 3am, made our way back to the Wynn, and decided to finish up the night at a suite mini bar. I fell asleep on the couch right in front of everyone (sound familiar?), but the rest of the group attacked and conquered the mini bar until sunrise. Now there is a bill that I would like to see.

Tuesday, July 25th.

After another hard day of work, I was whisked away from the Luxor in a hot convertible driven by the one and only GreedyGirl. The two of us headed to the Venetian, driving along the strip of course, and GreedyGirl treated me to a delicious and completely gossip filled dinner. Amongst many topics that will not be repeated, we had a great chat about Casino City's GPWA (Gambling Portal Webmaster's Association) purchase and about GreedyGirl's new role at TheRX.com. After dinner we walked over to the Bodog Party at "Tao", an event that was rumored to have cost over a million dollars. Why over a million? My god, where do I start...top shelf open bar, Asian buffet, ninja midgets, models, Shannon Elizabeth, Bodog girls, fortune tellers, half naked women meditating, Bodog napkins, cups, and decorations, body painting, more celebs, more Bodog girls...the list goes on. Later into the night I finally found my Ruby Fortune, 7 Sultans Casino, and Royal Vegas Casino friends who had just come from Steve Wynn's table at "Alex", an exquisite restaurant at The Wynn Hotel. Interesting. I bet "Alex" has some great tequila. Overall, this party was pretty amazing, even though a certain hyperactive someone knocked a drink all over my shirt. I must admit, when the party came to end I decided to sneak out and get to bed at a decent hour. Why? I needed to prepare myself for a very big Wednesday and for numerous WSOP parties. Nice and G rated.

Ok, that's enough about Vegas for today. I hope you are looking forward to "Part Two" next week, and in the meantime, I will be enjoying Costa Rica with Gambling 911. Before signing off, I would like to introduce you to my new boyfriend who is pictured below- we met at the WSOP last week. I know, he's not much to look at, but rumor has it he's great in the sack. Rebecca and Ron
