Rebecca's Recommendations - August 18, 2006
1)Never believe what you see and read in the media. Articles are exaggerated and fabricated, pictures are staged and manipulated. Do not ever forget this.
2)Tequila shots are a bad thing. I don't think it is necessary to elaborate.
3)Rebecca Liquorero and Jenny Woo are a dangerous, dangerous pair. If you take an innocent, reserved and conservative girl like me and add the sultry, wild, and liberal Jenny Woo, you will find trouble. What's that? You don't believe that I’m innocent, reserved and conservative? Come meet me and watch me speak at our GPWA Conference in Las Vegas next month so you can see for yourself. Now if this does not convince you to come, I’m not sure what will. And no, I don't mean that sexually, you sick, dirty readers!
Alright, enough of my preaching- now it's time for stories. Before reading, please note: anything that occurred during tequila induced memory loss does not count and never happened. Therefore, you are about to get the full, unedited version of my trip. I hope you enjoy...
Sunday, August 6th.
I flew from Boston early Sunday morning and met up with Gambling 911's Chris and Jenny in the Miami airport. While we were waiting for our flight, low and behold, guess who sat down at our gate? Brad Pitt! Ok, fine, it wasn't really Brad Pitt, but it was the Nine.com hottie who looks just like him. What are the chances? Anyway, we landed safely, fought our way through the charming San Jose airport, and checked in to the InterContinental by 10pm. The three of us had planned on a quiet dinner and perhaps a few drinks at the hotel bar until...I called my Bodog friend. Whoops. This lovely Bodog employee is notorious for "taking care of" guests and Bodog affiliates (me) when they come to San Jose for business. I will be honest. This time around, he went over and above his call of duty- I have never had this much fun (or tequila) in my 27 years of life. We were picked up at 10:30pm, escorted to Mas T'quila, and treated to an excellent dinner and drinks by the Bodog boys and Sportsbook.com's Juan, the token Tico of the group. After dinner we decided to spice up our night by heading to San Jose's famous Del Rey, which is if you remember correctly, a bar full of hookers. This is where the night turned ugly. My Bodog friend kindly purchased a few more tequila shot rounds for the group which I felt the need to participate in. Everything was cool for a while- I clearly remember chatting with Juan about Sportsbook.com and the props they offer- but after that...nothing. Nice one. However, I do remember getting ready to leave, I do remember getting dropped off at the InterContinental with Chris and Jenny at 4:30am, and I do remember inhaling a Snickers from my mini bar before bed. That was one tasty Snickers bar.

I woke up feeling fine-a small miracle- and the three of us reunited around lunchtime for a trip to the Absolute Poker office. Emanuel from Absolute Poker picked us up at the hotel, brought us to the office, and gave us a first class tour of the entire place. Our next stop was Nine.com where we found Brad Pitt and everyone's old favorites, Marty and Simon. After reminiscing about how one of Jenny's drunken-picture-filled articles got the Nine.com team into trouble, we made our way to the SBR Marketing offices for a bite to eat and a nice chat. Later that evening, the Nine.com team, Brad Pitt included, treated us to an exquisite dinner at Le Monasterea, a steakhouse overlooking all of Escazú. After dinner, the entire group met up with the Bodog boys, my contact from SBR Marketing, and a guy from Paradise Poker for drinks at Mas T'quila. Upon arrival I went to find my Bodog friend who was- surprise surprise- busy charming the ladies. After my approach and a playful womanizing comment, it just so happened that the girls decided to leave which was of course, all my fault. So anyway, the group wanted to move from Mas T'quila to Fiesta, the local casino, however I ended up in the car with Jenny and the Bodog boys and we decided to take a little detour...to Pelufo's, that is. Now this was quite an interesting experience. Pelufo's is a local, hole in the wall, downtown San Jose strip bar that is known for a bi-nightly "duo show". Yes, the duo show involves two women, yes, they are completely naked, and yes, they participate in every sexual act you can imagine. Truly enlightening. After Pelufo's, we regrouped at Fiesta for an hour and a select few hit the Dey Rey until 5am, yet again.

I woke up way before Miss Woo- had to pry her out of bed actually- and the two of us headed to the BetCRIS offices for a tour and an interview. We met with the owner, had a great chat with the very friendly and hospitable BetCRIS general manager and before leaving, I was able to meet the affiliates manager as well. After BetCRIS, Jenny and I took a quick walk to the Bodog offices for a nice recap on the night before, and then stopped by the Gambling Wages offices to discuss Palace of Chance, Cool Cat, and Cirrus Casino. Stay tuned for more details on these casinos coming shortly! Jenny and I decided to call it a day at 6pm and made our way back to the hotel for one last night on the town. Once again, my Bodog friend pulled through and treated the three of us to a great meal and some picso sours at Inca Grill. Chris and Jenny wanted to get back to the hotel after dinner, but I could not resist one last night on the town with my favorite Bodog employee (no, not you Calvin), so the two of us headed to, guess where? Mas T'quila. We closed down the place and bar hopped until we ended up at the inevitable- the one, the only, San Jose's finest- the Del Rey. That was three nights in a row for me, baby. So the two of us pulled into the parking lot around 2am and the parking lot attendant greeted us with, "Fam-i-ly Calvin!" and personally escorted us into the bar. Interesting. When 4am hit the two of us decided it was time to go home, especially considering that I had an important meeting at 8:30am Wednesday morning.
Wednesday, August 9th.
After a solid three hours sleep, myself and Chris headed to the SBG Global offices to meet with the President for an interview surrounding the BetonSports situation and many other hot online gaming industry topics. After this very informative interview, Chris and I made our way to the airport, met up with Jenny, and began our journey back home and back to reality.
As you can see, our trip to Costa Rica was informative, enjoyable, extremely fun, and as always, I cannot wait to go back. No more tequila though. Seriously. Anyway, before signing off, I would like to leave you with a precious picture of Jenny Woo and myself, completely staged and manipulated of course.
