Punta Cana Poker Classic changes venues

17 May 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Punta Cana Poker Classic officials have announced that the 2016 Punta Cana Poker Classic is moving from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana to the luxurious Meliá Caribe Tropical and Casino Palma Real in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The move is the result of Hard Rock's unwillingness to renew its contract with Punta Cana Poker Classic organizers. However, with change comes opportunity. Players will have access to a private area of the hotel known as The Level and amenities not available at Hard Rock. The dates for the tournament, October 25 to 31, remain the same.

"After negotiations with the Hard Rock fell through, we went to work to find an even better property that fits perfectly with the intimate nature of the Punta Cana Poker Classic," said PCPC spokesperson Mia Gabriels. "And we found it in The Level section of the Melia Caribe Tropical. We're excited to move to an impressive, tropical venue that's designed to feel more poker-centric. Our players can look forward to an incredible poker vacation with all-inclusive food and beverage, free golf, discount spa prices — all set in a tropical paradise unlike anything you've seen before."

The Punta Cana Poker Classic has attracted players from every corner of the globe, with many of them winning their way through partner online poker sites. For the last six years, the tournament took place at the popular Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana. While much-loved, the Hard Rock was unwilling to extend its contract with the Punta Cana Poker Classic. Organizers went to work finding a new venue that would not only satisfy players' needs, but also exceed expectations.

The new venue, while large and impressive, features an exclusive section of the resort called The Level. The Punta Cana Poker Classic will essentially take over this section for the week, allowing the PCPC team to cater to poker players' every wish and create true poker memories. The Level features its own private restaurants, pools and beach.

Punta Cana Poker Classic packages will once again include the $1,650 buy-in to the $500k GTD Main Event and six nights at the resort. However, this year's package also features double occupancy, allowing winners to bring their spouse or friend.

This year's package will also award winners with SIX $50 Jackpot Sit & Go tickets for players to participate in prizes that go from cash to main event entries! The tickets will be awarded to those who win their package online at Americas Cardroom through a satellite or buy it directly through the Punta Cana Poker Classic website.
