Professional craps play

23 Sep 2014

By Frank Scoblete
FROM NESS: I read the letters in your mailbag that people send to you in the Casino Times newsletter I get in my e-mail.

A little background information about myself:

I am an advantage craps player who sometimes gambles. I have a set system of betting that I am able to adjust to the trends of the craps action. I consider myself a knowledgeable player.

Being still in my youth I don't have the over time history/experience as yourself, but I try to read up as much as I can. I grew up in the Midwest about the time casino riverboats were booming and becoming an accessible thing to myself. I've played craps all over the country except Vegas. I'm saving up for a special run there, ideally that I hope to make one day.

I currently live on the East Coast and make my way to Atlantic City once or twice a month. I have a network of “control-ish” dice shooters that we try to combine or maximize our talents and skill set. I travel back and forth to many casinos ranging from Kansas to Memphis to NJ and on cruise ships to the Bahamas (I really enjoy playing on the ships).

I would like to hear it from you, this 5-Count strategy play, and if possible open up a dialogue with you or any members of your craps team. I really would like to hear your opinion on a lot of the different types of craps games/strategies I've encountered and employed on my lifelong quest to become a better, hopefully legendary, craps shooter and player.

So if you are in the Atlantic City area anytime in the near future, and you are open to having this dialogue with myself and/or friends, I'll glad treat you to lunch/dinner for a little of your time/wisdom you possess. I am retired military, family-oriented man, and a passionate yet controlled craps player (I have a budget). I am a Diamond level Caesars player. So thank you for reading my e-mail and I'll look for a response from you in the near future.

Thanks again.

FRANK RESPONDS: I would drop the idea of following trends. That is strictly a gambler’s way to play, a losing way. On true controlled shooters, “trends” tend to reflect skill — a totally different ballgame.

You seem to be a very active player. I do hope you have total control of your emotions and don’t allow yourself the self-destructive pleasure of throwing your money away on bad bets and systems of play.

I can’t make arrangements to meet people because I get too many of those requests. But I can do this. I will send you a free copy of my craps book “Casino Craps: Shoot to Win!” which has just about everything I know about craps, controlled shooting and the 5-Count.

I wish you and your buddies the best in the future!

Frank’s new book is “I Am a Card Counter: Inside the World of Advantage-Play Blackjack” available on Amazon.com and Kindle.
