Presidential debate bets available on FanDuel

28 Sep 2020

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Today, FanDuel unveiled a series of free-to-play 2020 Presidential Debate Pick’em games leading into this year’s election. The 2020 debate cycle begins on Tuesday, 29 September, when Democratic candidate Joe Biden faces off against current President Donald Trump for the first time. For the first debate, FanDuel’s Presidential Debate Pick’em game will feature 10 questions, including:
  • How will the candidates greet each other?
  • What issue will the first debate topic address?
  • Which candidate will be asked to respond first in the debate?
  • What color will Trump’s tie be?
  • Will Trump refer to Biden as “Sleepy Joe”?
  • Will Biden and/or the moderator mention Trump’s Twitter activity?
  • Will Biden mention “Scranton”?
  • Which candidate will be the first to be cut off by the moderator because they are over time?
  • Will Biden play a song on his phone during the debate?
  • Will Trump mention “fake news”?
FanDuel will have a Pick’em game available for all four debates featuring up to 10 binary or multiple-choice questions, ranging from what debate topic the first question will address to how the candidates will greet each other (e.g., elbow bump, fist bump, handshake, or none of the above). Winners of each contest – the individual/s with the most correct answers – will split a $10,000 prize. The overall winner/s across all four debates will earn up to another $10,000.

“We remain as committed as ever to our brand promise of giving our players more ways to win. We demonstrated this when we hosted our first-ever political contest for the Democratic Debate back in March, which our customers loved,” said Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel. “As we continue to lead our industry forward in innovation and creativity, we’ve seen incredible engagement around marquee events not tied to sports, such as awards shows, reality TV competitions, and more.”

Beginning 21 October, FanDuel will also offer a free to play election game on the FanDuel Sportsbook, where fans can predict the outcome of election-related markets to win prizes.

The Vice Presidential Debate is Wednesday, 7 October, followed by the final two Presidential debates on Thursday, 15 October and Thursday, 22 October. The first 2020 Presidential Debate Pick’em game is now live via the FanDuel Sportsbook and DFS apps.
