PokerStars releases limited-time cash game Showtime Hold'em

23 May 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Hot on the heels of Split Hold’em, PokerStars has released a new, limited-time cash game variant called Showtime Hold’em. In this fresh twist on No Limit Hold’em, every time a player folds, their hand will be shown face up for all players to see revealing more and more information for current and future hands.

Showtime Hold’em is a game designed to keep players on their toes. Players will have to adapt their strategy based on the new information revealed each time someone folds and their cards are shown.

The variant is a new way for players to test their skills and see how well they can play when the rules are flipped. Will players change their play knowing their opponents will see their hands? Will they play more loose to prove they aren’t tight? Or can players make their opponent fold a big hand or make a big call knowing critical outs are now dead?

Severin Rasset, Director of Poker Innovation and Operations, said, “It is a real pleasure to offer this second temporary variant to our players. The possibility to see all folded cards will introduce some fascinating strategic adjustments to the traditional and well-loved NL Hold’em game.”

Players can watch PokerStars Ambassadors Lex Veldhuis, Fintan Hand and Ben Spragg testing out the new variant at PokerStars and Monte Carlo Casino EPT here.

Similar to Split Hold’em, Showtime Hold’em will feature its own Twitch invitational where a number of PokerStars Ambassadors will battle it out for more bragging rights whilst showcasing their poker skills. Details for the invitational are to be announced soon.

For those who missed out on the Split Hold’em Twitch Invitational, players can catch all the best bits from PokerStars Ambassadors Fintan Hand, Ben Spragg, Lex Veldhuis, Jaime Staples, Kevin Martin and Felix Schneiders battling it out online.
