PokerStars guaranteeing tons of WSOP seats
(PRESS RELEASE) -- On Sunday June 15, PokerStars.com, the world's largest poker tournament Web site, will host one of the largest World Series of Poker Tournaments. In just one night PokerStars.com will award at least 200 seats to the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Satellites to this year's tournament will be running 2 weeks before the tournament date which has a $370 buy-in equating to a guaranteed worth of at least $2.5 million.
Last year 7,377 players entered the online super satellite tournament fighting for a chance to earn poker glory at the 2007 World Series of Poker. Players from around the world battled for a guaranteed 150 seats. The event quickly turned into the largest WSOP satellite in history and ended up awarding an unheard of 220 seats.
In 2008, PokerStars is offering more seats to the WSOP than any other site. Unlike other sites who are only offering only 150 main event seats, PokerStars is guaranteeing at least 2,000 seats. Already over 1,200 PokerStars players have won their seat and are heading to Vegas.
The 200+ winners will be awarded a $12,500 prize package that includes a coveted $10,000 buy-in to the 2008 WSOP Main Event, $2,500 in spending money, round-trip airfare to Las Vegas, and hotel accommodations for the two-week event.
The WSOP is the richest sporting event on the planet, with a multi-million dollar prize and approx. 8,000 players for the Main Event alone. At last year's main event Team PokerStars Pro players Tuan Lam, Raymond Rahme, and Hevad Khan all made it to the final table, earning a combined $8,845,249.
