PokerStars crowns another millionaire from $100 Spin & Go

14 Dec 2015

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The sun is shining on a very festive season down under for one poker player, with a new millionaire made on PokerStars.com's Spin & Go's.

The Australian player "GrindHeaps" became the latest millionaire on PokerStars, an Amaya brand. This is the eighth millionaire made in the last two months, and the thirteenth this year. PokerStars famously made six millionaires in a week in late October, and while the special promotion to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Spin & Go's has concluded, the $100 Spin & Go's are continuing to award a maximum prize of $1 million on an ongoing basis.

The $100 buy-in Spin & Go tournament (Tournament #1,409,622,460) started at 7 p.m. Australian Eastern Summer Time on Dec. 14 and concluded at 7:10 p.m., making a new millionaire after just 10 minutes of poker play – the second-fastest ever Million Dollar Spin & Go. The fastest victory was the previous millionaire "Koovoon," who won $1 Million in 9 minutes, 38 seconds. While Koovoon won in a shorter time, GrindHeaps won in a smaller number of poker hands – just 33 hands of poker decided who would be a millionaire.

The runner up was "gavonater" from Ireland, who won $100,000. The third-place player was "EnglishGirl9" from the United Kingdom, who also won $100,000.

GrindHeaps had been the chip leader continuously from the sixth hand of the tournament, doubling up with Ac-Qs all-in preflop against the Kd-Jc of EnglishGirl9. The flop was Jh-Tc-5s giving EnglishGirl9 top pair, but the board ran out 9h-8d to make a straight for GrindHeaps.

Hand No. 33 was the final hand of the tournament, when GrindHeaps limped from the button with Jh-Jc and called the shove of gavonater, who held 3s-3d. Both players made full houses on a board of Ts-Kh-2s-Kd-Kc but the jacks of GrindHeaps took the million-dollar prize.

Including this tournament, the following poker players have $1 million prizes in Spin & Go's since the beginning of October:

•On Dec. 14, GrindHeaps from Australia won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
•On Nov. 21, Koovoon from Canada won $1 million from a $100 tournament in 9 minutes, and 38 seconds.

Spin & Go's are fast-paced, 3-Max Hyper Turbo tournaments which feature 500 chip starting stacks. Each tournament has a randomly drawn prize pool that will award between two and 10,000 times your buy-in. PokerStars offer Spin & Go's at seven different buy-in levels: $0.25, $1, $3, $7, $15, $30, $60 and $100.
