PokerStars announces Latin American Poker Tour Season 6
24 Jan 2013
It’s the fourth time the LAPT has visited Chile, and the season opener promises to build on the success of previous festivals there. Last year’s Main Event attracted 672 players and generated a prize pool of $651,840. A total of nine events are scheduled for LAPT Chile, including a $5,000 buy-in High Roller tournament.
“We are very proud to be part of the biggest poker tournament in Latin America, held by the Latin American Poker Tour,” said Eduardo Garcia, Commercial Manager at the Enjoy Casino & Resort. “It is due to this association that the Enjoy Casino & Resort in Chile has led this initiative, five years in a row, which stands for quality and constitutes an effective way to boost tourism by bringing tourists to Chile from around the world.”
Team PokerStars Pro and winner of LAPT 5 Panama, Leo Fernandez, said: “It’s amazing how fast the LAPT has grown in the past few years and the most exciting thing is that it continues to expand. The organisation, the well thought out buy-in levels, the prestige and the experience that all professional and amateur players bring to the LAPT, makes this tour better and better, year after year.”
Season 6 destinations
LAPT Season 6 will revisit the same cities and destinations as Season 5 in a bid to establish customary LAPT events each season, which helps to consolidate relationships with partners and deliver consistency for players.
LAPT President David Carrion added: “Season 6 will build on last year’s growth and return to the same cities, adding stability for poker and the LAPT brand in the region. Season 6 will focus on delivering an excellent poker experience to players at all skill levels.”
Fernandez added: “I’m happy that the tour I love to play will return to Panama, where I felt great excitement not only from winning the event, but also because I was able to share the experience with friends and people I love. There is a unique atmosphere of love and support from everyone involved in LAPT events that you cannot find elsewhere.”
Players from across Latin America and around the world will have many opportunities to participate, either by buying in directly on-site or qualifying via live or online satellites. The easiest way to play the new LAPT events remains by winning a seat on www.pokerstars.net, where daily freerolls awarding entry to the opening event at Viña del Mar have already begun.
