Pokerstars announces contest for US and Canadian players

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Players in the U.S. and Canada can now have their shot at winning a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship (PSPC) in an epic competition with PokerStars Ambassador, Jennifer Shahade.

Running unitl 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, 14 December, the competition will see the PokerStars community submit their most formative or memorable poker hand, providing an explanation as to what makes it so special, with the freedom to focus on strategic insights, dramatic tension, colourful villains, or shocking results, with creativity and humour encouraged.

Inspired by Shahade’s podcast, the GRID, which extracts instructive and entertaining poker hands for all 169 possible hand combos, the contest will see one lucky finalist be awarded a coveted Platinum Pass to the sun-drenched Bahamas in January 2023, with a package worth $30,000 to include:

• $25,000 buy-in to the PSPC


• Six nights hotel accommodation for the winner and a guest in a 5-star hotel


• Airport transfer


• $1,900 expense money


• Platinum Pass winner experiences during the event

To be in for a chance at winning the Platinum Pass, contestants should submit their entry to thepokergrid@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Platinum Hand + Your Name’.

All emails should provide a link to an audio/video/or text file on Twitter, YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo or a blog, along with the following details:

• Full name


• Country of residence


• A 2-3 sentence ‘about me’ section


• Submission link to YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, blog post, or text

If posting on personal social channels, contestants should be sure to use the hashtag #PlatinumPokerHand to allow others to get involved and have a look. Suggested time frames for entries are 1-6 minutes for audio/video, and 300-2000 words for blog/text.

Judges will include none other than Sam Grafton, Maria Ho, Keith Becker, Mark Foresta, Alex O'Brien, and Brad Willis, who will pick a winner based on the following factors:

• Creativity / Originality


• Presentation


• Insightfulness


• Flow


• Overall Impact

Timeline:

• Until 14 December: Competition Live
• 15-19 December: Shahade to select top six finalists and send to judging panel
• 20-27 December: Judging panel deliberates and ranks finalists
• 30 December: Shahade to announce winner of the Platinum Pass competition on special GRID podcast
