PokerStars Ambassadors' Games begin

24 May 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- PokerStars Ambassadors have put their creative skills to the test in the ‘Platinum Pass Adventure,’ formulating new ways to give away PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) Platinum Passes, each worth $30,000, to their poker communities.

A select few have developed their own ideas to award players a Platinum Pass, providing new routes to qualify while complementing traditional online and live paths. Winning players will receive mentoring and coaching from their PokerStars Ambassador as they prepare for the PSPC felt in January 2019.

“We gave our Ambassadors free rein to get as imaginative as they wanted and show us the fun ideas they could bring to the table,” said PokerStars Director of Poker Marketing David Carrion. “They’ve come up with some great paths that really cater to their followers, giving players the opportunity to win, and not just at the poker tables. Keep an eye on what our Ambassadors are up to so you don’t miss your chance to get involved.”

Each Platinum Pass Adventure route (some are region limited) will be revealed closer to their respective launch date. To give a flavor of the ways to win, the first three upcoming paths are:

Felix Schneiders – BroBattle – Felix and his two ‘Pokerbros’ Murat Tülek and Niklas Ehrenholz will handpick entrants to represent their respective teams and battle for Pokerbro glory in monthly live Sit & Go’s held at Felix’s streaming studios in Cologne, Germany. All selected monthly players will be entered into The Online Bro Battle Final on 2 September where the overall winner will win a Platinum Pass.

“I have been streaming poker for years and during that time I have got to know lots of members of my community through my discord channel and also at live events and meet-ups, but I wanted to take it to the next level and give my audience the chance to play poker in a live setting with us in Cologne and win an amazing prize,” said Felix. “The PSPC is going to be a huge event and I can’t wait to give one of my community members the chance go to the Bahamas and take part. I’ll be rooting them on all the way. It could be life-changing!”

Fintan Hand and Ben Spragg – As Random As It Gets – Fintan and Spraggy's daily Twitch show covers a variety of nonsensical topics, so of course their giveaway will be more of the same. Everything from fitness challenges to photoshop contests will earn players a place in the online final tournament on 29 July where a Platinum Pass will be up for grabs. From 28 May – 29 July on the PokerStars Twitch stream and Fintan and Spraggy’s social media channels there will be a different daily challenges to earn a spot in the final. Fintan and Spraggy will pick one winner each day and will also choose one weekly wild card winner each.

“We try to keep our stream chill and a little bit silly at times, which we wanted to reflect in the give-away,” said Fintan and Spraggy. “We also wanted to give our viewers a unique way of winning a Platinum Pass, not just at the online or live poker tables. We’re really looking forward to engaging our audience and we can’t wait to meet our winner.”

Andre Akkari – From BSOP to PSPC – Andre Akkari will hold live qualifiying Sit & Go’s at three Brazil Series of Online Poker (BSOP) events, starting with BSOP São Paulo in July. Players who are in the money in the opening tournaments at each BSOP event will be entered into a draw where six players will be randomly chosen to play in the exclusive Sit & Go. In addition, Andre will choose two wild card players to join the table. The three winners from each BSOP event will play in the live final at BSOP Millions in Sao Paulo on 6 December to win the ultimate prize.

“Of course being from Brazil, I wanted to give the Brazilian poker community a new opportunity to win a Platinum Pass through an exciting path created by me,” said Andre. “The BSOP is a much loved event and has a great atmosphere so I thought it would be the perfect event for my route. I’ll be at all the events so it’ll be amazing to see the buzz around the place.”

So far, 108 Platinum Passes worth more than $3 million in total have been awarded via online and live routes.
