21 Sep 2004

MONTE-CARLO, Monaco – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Monaco Government Tourist Office announced today that for the first time in Monegasque history, the Principality is allowing a poker tournament to take place in the world-famous venue of Monte-Carlo. Monte Carlo Millions promises to be the most glamorous and exciting poker event in history as A-list celebrities, professional poker players and top amateurs convene from around the globe to go head-to-head in Monaco. Monte Carlo Millions will be televised through several US and international networks and produced by the same people that created ESPN's World Series of Poker.

Matt Savage, tournament director of the Monte Carlo Millions, also announced today that twenty professional poker players including The Hendon Mob have already stated that they will be participating in the highly exclusive poker tournament, to be held in Monte-Carlo, Monaco November 6 - 13. Savage is currently making arrangements with many more professional players who will soon be announced. All are world-renowned players, including former World Series of Poker champions.

The Hendon Mob just came off a big finish at the Victor Cup Tournament in England with three of the four players making the final table. Ram Vaswani placed second, Ross Boatman finished third and Joe Beevers placed eighth. In addition, Joe Beevers took first place in Las Vegas this week at The Four Queens Poker Classic, No Limit Hold 'Em tournament. The Hendon Mob's popularity continues to surge throughout Europe and the United States. They have been featured guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, FOX Sports, ESPN and Late Night Poker.

"The Monte Carlo Millions is the kind of event every poker player dreams of playing in," said Barny Boatman. "The most exclusive venue, the world's greatest players and the best chance yet to pit the best of Europe against the best in the States. Bring it on!"

Though roughly the size of Central Park, the independent and sovereign Principality of Monaco has managed to maintain its mystique as Europe's most cherished enclave. Synonymous with royalty, glamour and excitement, Monaco continues to attract international pleasure seekers to the 'jewel-box of the Riviera.' Monaco's undiminished reputation as a first-class gaming destination is complemented by an enduring commitment to the arts, by the preservation of its cultural traditions and by the protection of the environment. Monte-Carlo, its most famous district, owes its fame to the casinos. Associated with the most elegant of parties, gambling has been the ruling master of Monte-Carlo since 1863, when Prince Charles III inaugurated the first great casino. A monumental work of art dedicated to lady luck, heads of state and international stars flock to the world's best gaming tables to try their luck. But the choice of location has widened to include other first-class casinos such as the Cafe de Paris, the Sun Casino, and the Salles des Palmiers, which now add to the Principality's most famous pastime.
