PocketFives.com member wins third Sunday tournament

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- PocketFives.com member "DoubleS00ted" made online poker history by winning his third Sunday major tournament in less than seven months. After taking down the PokerStars Sunday Million and Full Tilt $750K Guaranteed tournaments for a combined $300,000, T.J. Slifka won the UltimateBet $200K Guaranteed for another $46K. Another streaky player, Sweden's "RIPCURL," final tabled his fourth PartyPoker $300K Guaranteed recently; placing sixth for yet another five-figure cash. Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin also captured headlines by posting his second outright victory in the Bodog $100K Guaranteed in the month of May.

This week's PocketFives.com Rankings update shows "shaundeeb" and "P0KERPR033" moving up one spot to #7 and #8 respectively. Matt "Plattsburgh" Vengrin has broken into the top 100 and sits at #87 following his second place finish in the Full Tilt $750K Guaranteed. Johan "busto_soon" Til of The Netherlands moved up four slots to #13 following his recent victory in the Full Tilt $90K Guaranteed for $36,000. David "Bakes" Baker moved up 21 spots to #35 after placing second in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for nearly $54,000.

...Appearing on the PocketFives.com Podcast this week is Poker Players Alliance Washington State Director Lee Rousso, who is suing in order to overturn a law in the State that makes playing online poker a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. In a courtroom in Kent, Washington on May 15th, a judge sided with the State. However, Rousso plans to appeal directly to the Washington State Supreme Court. He commented to PocketFives.com: "The Constitution of the United States gives Congress the right to regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the states. The theory is that internet poker is interstate commerce, which means Congress, not the states, has the power to regulate it. I filed the lawsuit on the opening day of the World Series of Poker last year. It took me 10 months to get my day in court."

Rousso briefly ran for Governor before bowing out of the race in March. He comments on the future of online poker in the United States: "U.S. Citizens have no problem whatsoever with people playing internet poker in the privacy of own homes. The government is going to have to be dragged kicking and screaming in order to catch up with the general public. Licensed and regulated internet poker is inevitable in the U.S. It's just a matter of when."
