PinnacleSports.com Releases Odd on WSOP

30 Jun 2005

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Nothing demonstrates the enormous popularity of poker more than the growth of the game's biggest event, which expects record prize pools and an unprecedented number of entrants this year. With the an estimated 6,600 entrants vying for the world's most prestigious poker championship, PinnacleSports.com today announced odds on the 36th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em Championship.

The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com has created the most competitive odds on the WSOP, including betting lines on 36 of the biggest names in poker winning the illustrious No-Limit gold bracelet. Young poker superstar Daniel Negreanu has opened as the favorite to win the WSOP championship tournament at 257/1 followed closely by fellow young gun Phil Ivey at 259/1. PinnacleSports.com lists 1989 champion and nine-time gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth with the third best odds at 306/1 and tournament veteran Howard Lederer at 319/1. The oddsmakers at PinnacleSports.com believe several former WSOP champions will be in contention for this year's title, including: 1995 champion Dan Harrington (323/1), 2000 champ Chris "Jesus" Ferguson (388/1), 1987-88 winner Johnny Chan (419/1), 1998 champ Scotty Nguyen (490/1) and 1976-77 champion Doyle Brunson (532/1). The event's first Internet qualifier turned gold bracelet winner Chris Moneymaker comes in at 874/1, while the odds that Greg Raymer can repeat as champion this year stand at 718/1.

"With over 6,000 competitors entered in this year's tournament, we're giving bettors exceptional value on the poker elite to win the WSOP," said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. "Players are looking to strike it rich by backing poker stars like Negreanu, Ivey, Hellmuth and Lederer at their current odds with many customers likening the opportunity to betting golf's big four of Woods, Singh, Mickelson and Els to win a major at odds of 300/1 or better."

In addition to offering odds to win the No-Limit Championship, PinnacleSports.com has created betting lines on over 130 players advancing to the tournament's final table. Predictably PinnacleSports.com has made Ivey (39/1) and Negreanu (40/1) the early favorites to reach the championship table at the WSOP's Main Event. Bettors can also wager on what player from a group of 30 will place highest in the tournament.

If any reporter would like odds on a player from their area winning the WSOP championship, PinnacleSports.com will gladly calculate the odds.
