Philippine Government Slammed for Opening Casino

PHILIPPINES – As reported by the Manila Times: "Several Chinese Filipino organizations, led by the group Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc., on Friday slammed the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. for opening a casino in Binondo, Manila despite the residents' protests.
"Joaquin Sy, Kaisa president, said Pagcor's casino, which has 145 slot machines, would desecrate the district and affect the lifestyle of Chinatown.
"The group claims the casino should not be allowed to operate because it is located near several churches and schools within the district. The casino is in Binondo Suites building on Gandara Street…"
