Pennsylvania's total gaming revenue grows over 21% for February 2023

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and VGTs.
The Board has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website, https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/.
Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $188,976,155 during February 2023.
Slot machine revenue:
February’s revenue from slot machines was $202,822,213, a 4.18% increase in revenue when compared to the $194,692,492 generated in February 2022.
The number of slot machines in operation in February 2023 was 25,708 compared to 26,154 at the casinos in February 2022.
Tax revenue from the play of slots machines in February of 2023 was $103,008,528.
Retail table games revenue:
Retail table games revenue for February 2023 was stable year over year with revenue of $74,505,042 showing an increase of 0.18% from February 2022 when revenue was $74,372,715.
Table games revenue for each of the casinos, with the percentage change reflected over the previous year, is as follows.
Total tax revenue from table games play during February 2023 was $12,158,996.
Internet casino-type gaming (iGaming) revenue:
Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of $131,625,131 during February 2023 compared to $102,419,293 in February 2022 an increase of 28.52%.
A breakdown of revenue of casino games offered online is as follows:
Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during February 2023 was $56,321,557.
Sports wagering revenue:
February 2023 total sports wagering handle was $599,529,429 or 0.41% above the February 2022 total of $597,064,049. At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for February 2023 was $43,230,177 compared to February 2022 when taxable revenue was -$442,847.
Video gaming terminals:
Total adjusted revenue for February 2023 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,313,019 or 9.28% higher than February 2022 when revenue was $3,031,625. By the close of February 2023, VGT Terminal Operators were operating the maximum permitted five machines at 66 qualified truck stop establishments compared to five machines at 60 establishments at this time last year.
Fantasy contests:
Fantasy Contests revenue was $1,342,936 in February 2023, a decrease of 16.34% over February 2022, when revenue was $1,605,137.
Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in February 2023 was $201,440.
