Pennsylvania officials worry about lottery

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Evening Sun: "With five slots halls open and more on the way, some lawmakers say they are worried about gamblers ignoring the state lottery and hurting lottery-funded seniors programs.

"Rep. Martin Causer, R-McKean, has sponsored a resolution seeking a study into whether the lottery can continue supporting programs such as the PACE and PACENET prescription plans. The study would be conducted by the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee, a bipartisan research agency.

"Causer's measure has 46 co-sponsors, mostly Republicans, including Rep. Ron Miller, R-Jacobus.

"Not all lawmakers agree that it is time to fret about the lottery, and one is House Finance Committee Chairman David Levdansky, D-Allegheny. Causer's resolution is pending in his committee..."
