Pennsylvania Lottery Launches Online Game
MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Lottery today announced a groundbreaking new online game, LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO, with a top prize of $3,000 a month for life and an instant-play feature.
LUCKY FOR LIFE tickets will go on sale Thursday, September 30, 2004. The first LUCKY FOR LIFE drawing will be held Saturday, October 2, 2004, at 7 p.m. Live, televised LUCKY FOR LIFE drawings will be held every Wednesday and Saturday evening, along with the drawings for the Daily Number, BIG 4 and CASH 5.
"LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO is an exciting new game that gives Lottery players a chance to win a lifetime prize," said Secretary of Revenue Gregory C. Fajt. "But as with all Pennsylvania Lottery games, the real winners are older Pennsylvanians.
"LUCKY FOR LIFE will help the Lottery continue to support a broad range of senior programs, including expanded prescription drug benefits through PACE and PACENET."
LUCKY FOR LIFE players will receive one play for $2. Players select six numbers from 1 to 38, or they may elect the quick-pick, computer-selection method. LUCKY FOR LIFE tickets may be purchased up to 13 weeks (26 draws) in advance.
With each $2 purchase, players will have a chance to win the jackpot annuity prize of $3,000 a month for life, $1 million guaranteed, paid in annual installments of $36,000 per year less appropriate federal withholding, by matching all 6-of-6 winning numbers drawn. Prizes are set for matching 5-, 4- and 3-of-6 winning numbers. Odds of winning the LUCKY FOR LIFE jackpot prize are 1-in-2,760,681. Odds of winning any prize are 1-in-11.5.
"LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO responds to suggestions made by Lottery players, who wanted an online jackpot game with a `life' prize, much like the Lottery's popular `Win $1,000 A Week For Life' instant ticket game," said Lottery Executive Director Ed Mahlman. "In addition to the lifetime prize, LUCKY FOR LIFE will offer the Pennsylvania Lottery's first instant-play feature in an online game."
Players will be able to win $10 instantly for each $2 LUCKY FOR LIFE purchase. The instant-play portion at the bottom of each ticket will either indicate "Instant Winner $10" or "No Instant Win, Try Again." The odds of winning $10 instantly are 1-in-20 statewide.
A player could make a $10 LUCKY FOR LIFE purchase (five plays) and win $50 on the instant-play portion of the ticket, because each $2 purchase has a 1- in-20 chance statewide of winning $10 instantly. A Random Number Generator will determine instant-play prizes; the six winning LUCKY FOR LIFE numbers will be drawn during the Lottery's live Wednesday and Saturday nightly drawing show.
