Pennsylvania Lottery Installs Terminals in Saint Marys
HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Lottery today announced that it has installed two state-of-the-art Player Activated Terminals (PATs) in Saint Marys, Elk County. The self-service, stand-alone terminals are located at DD's Bakery and Cafe, located at 31 Erie Avenue, and Delullo's Deli and Car Wash, located on the corner of John and Stackpole Streets.
The first PAT in Saint Marys was installed in December 2004 at Delullo's Deli and Car Wash. Owner and manager Richard Delullo said sales at this terminal, located inside the deli, "are getting better and better each week."
Delullo's has been a Lottery retailer for more than eight years, and daytime manager of the deli, Debbie Abraham, said that when the PAT was first installed, "players were interested that they could play their own numbers without waiting in line at the counter."
The PAT at DD's Bakery and Cafe - a new Lottery retailer - was installed yesterday. DD's co-owners, Rob Dixon and Darlene Distler, saw Lottery sales and a self-service PAT as a way to complement existing business.
DD's has been spreading the word about the new PAT for months, and "customers are hungry for it," said Dixon. He believes the PAT will attract many of the 150 to 200 customers that visit DD's every day to purchase Lottery tickets there.
PATs are user-friendly, touch screen terminals that offer all Pennsylvania Lottery numbers games and 16 instant games. In addition to selling Lottery games, PATs also validate winning tickets for numbers games and pay prizes up to $500 in the form of vouchers. Vouchers can be inserted into a PAT to purchase more Lottery tickets, or they can be cashed at a Lottery retailer. Instant tickets must be processed and paid by a clerk at a Lottery retailer.
The Pennsylvania Lottery was the first in the country to introduce PATs - which sell both instant and numbers games - in May 2004. The Lottery continues to install PATs at new and existing retailers across Pennsylvania.
