Penn National wants local support

GALENA, Kansas -- As reported by the Joplin Globe: "An official with Penn National Gaming on Tuesday night asked the Galena City Council to support the company at a July 9 meeting of the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board.
"Richard Klemp, vice president for government relations for Penn National, told council members that his company paid a $25 million privilege fee to the state of Kansas on June 4 for its planned casino in Cherokee County.
"...The company's Hollywood Casino is to be built a few miles south of Galena, near Interstate 44. Klemp said the company is starting with a $125 million investment in the casino, with an additional $100 million worth of projects planned in future years..."
