Paddy Power claims pole position

9 Jul 2013

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Paddy Power plc offered the best value for money in June to customers looking for money-back offers, according to figures from a leading affiliate marketing website.

FREEBETS.com rated the Irish bookie ahead of its competitors a month after it finished runner-up to Ladbrokes in the first ever research into the booming sector.

Analysts at the company used their own algorithms to conduct the survey. They based their findings on the number of money-back offers available, the free bet or cash refund value, the likelihood of the scenario to occur and the number of events and markets which qualify for the offer.

Statistics showed that 123 unique money-back offers were promoted by the 18 online bookmakers monitored. Paddy Power alone offered 27 different bets, including a host of high-value specials for the Confederations Cup held in Brazil.

The Dublin-based bookie also won the individual Money Back Offer of the Month with its headline-grabbing Royal Ascot promotion of “Money Back If Animal Kingdom Wins” the Queen Anne Stakes.

Paddy Power sports and sponsorship PR Manager Sebastian Bell said: “We wanted to kick this huge summer of sport off with a bang so decided to really give our customers some serious value for money in June.

“The combination of extra place offers, money-back specials across all Channel 4 races and a bonkers refund on Animal Kingdom at Royal Ascot meant we gave punters back almost £1 million in cash.”

David Archer, owner of Freebets.com, said: “The bookies really pushed some great betting offers in June with some outstanding value for punters in the Confederations Cup and, of course, Royal Ascot, which just gets better every year.

“The competition is fierce among bookmakers with a lot of choice on offer for the big televised events.”

Malta-based sportsbook Betway was the runner-up overall in June, with relative newcomer Winner.com taking third spot.

Betway owed their lofty position to some generous money-back offers around matches during cricket’s ICC Champions Trophy, while Winner put up a very generous horse racing special to customers if their selection finished second.

A spokesman for Winner.com said, “As a new and growing Sportsbook in the U.K., we understand the competitive marketplace. To finish third this month for money-back offers shows we are on the right track to being recognized for offering value to customers, which is one of our main focuses.

“With the football season around the corner we have many more great offers to make sure we keep up the good work and aim to be number one next month!”

Of the bookmakers surveyed, Paddy Power and BetVictor offered money-back promotions on the most sports, with 10 each, while Bet Victor had the second highest number of unique offers at 16.
