Online poker lessons from PKR
22 Aug 2012
PKR is one of the biggest online poker rooms in the UK and after eight years in the game, now attracts some of the most talented players in the world. The experts behind PKR have uploaded a series of quick poker lessons to the site - giving newcomers a better chance at taking down the big guns and keeping those veterans on their toes.
The 'Raise Your Game' tab is full of poker insight but the jargon could easily go over the head of a newbie. So, PKR have introduced 'How to Play' to the site - a page dedicated to schooling new players on the basics of the game. Using videos and simple text-based guides, members can learn everything they need to know before they play poker online for real cash.
A spokesperson for PKR commented:
"This is our way of helping more players enjoy online poker. Texas Hold 'Em is a really easy game to understand once you know the basics and from there, it is all about perfecting your style of play. We've got tutorials on different tournament strategies too, so even the more experienced players can dip in and out of the lessons to switch their tactics between games."
PKR are teaching members about poker rules and how to improve their win rate. One video lists three mistakes that are commonly made by fresh-faced players and explains how to avoid them. If you are making any of the following errors, that video alone is well worth checking out:
-- Playing too many hands
-- Playing with no aggression
-- Falling in love with your holding cards
Meanwhile, PKR are currently offering an incentive for current members to refer friends to the poker site. By welcoming newcomers and training them up, PKR are raising the average skill level of poker's next generation. Building on an already strong industry to increase the numbers on the site, PKR are effectively increasing their prize pools too - which is great news for every player involved.
