Odds Offered on Superman Returns', CLICK Results
LOS ANGELES, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Man of Steel is back to save the world when Superman Returns opens Wednesday, June 28, and the highly anticipated film is expected to draw large crowds across the U.S. during its opening weekend. The latest installment of the Superman films, the first since Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1987, features newcomer Brandon Routh as The Man of Steel. Routh takes over for the late Christopher Reeve who embodied the Superman franchise throughout the '70s and '80s. Joining Routh are Hollywood heavyweights Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther, and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. Superman Returns is directed by Bryan Singer whose directing credits include X-Men, X-2, and The Usual Suspects.
The film's producers have great expectations for Superman's return to the box office thanks to favorable reviews and a whopping production budget of more than $200 million. Not to mention the fact that American audiences love their superhero movies. The season's last superhero film, X-Men: The Last Stand, had an opening weekend gross of $102.75 million.
Sportsbook.com is also offering odds on the opening weekend gross for CLICK, Adam Sandler's latest film about the cosmic powers of a universal remote. The comedy also stars Christopher Walken and Kate Beckinsale, and is directed by Frank Coraci. CLICK opens June 23.
Adam Sandler is one of the most prolific and successful comedy actors in the world which certainly bodes well for the success of his latest film. Throughout his acting career, Sandler's films have grossed over $1.3 billion in the U.S.; a major accomplishment for a comic actor that has only been eclipsed by Jim Carrey and Mike Myers.
Sandler's previous Summer releases have done well at the box office. The Longest Yard grossed $158 million in the US, Mr. Deeds made $126 million, and Big Daddy scored $163 million in 1999. Sony hopes Click will bank similar numbers.
