NYRA Sets 2004 Race Dates
31 Oct 2003
NEW YORK – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Pending approval from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, the New York Racing Association will conduct 259 days of racing next year, two fewer than in 2003 due mostly to a longer break during the Christmas holiday season, nine days from December 20-28.
"Aqueduct will race over the inner track for 49 days from January 1 through March 7 and then offer a main-track meet in the spring for 38 days through May 2.
"…Belmont Park's spring-summer meet includes 60 days from May 5 to July 25 and leads into Saratoga Race Course's 36-day meet, which goes from July 28 through September 6. Action shifts back to Belmont for its 33-day fall championship meet from September 10 through October 24, and Aqueduct closes out the season with a 43-day fall meet from October 27 through December 31…"
