New law may affect WSOP

UNITED STATES – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "The number of entrants into the World Series of Poker might be significantly reduced because of a new law banning banks from processing Internet gambling transfers.
"In 2003 only 839 players took part in the tournament when accountant Chris Moneymaker emerged from a $40 Internet tournament to win the grand prize. This year there were 8,773 players, and more than half were estimated to have won tournaments over the Web to play.
"'It's going to affect the average player most dramatically,' said Michael Bolcerek, president of the Poker Players Alliance, a 130,000-member group that fought the legislation…"
