Nevada Megabucks Jackpot at $15.2 Million

RENO, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Nevada Megabucks® dollar progressive slot jackpot has more than doubled its base amount of $7 million, and its current total of $15,231,052 (as of June 22) is statistically overdue to be won.

Nevada Megabucks® is a 3-coin dollar game that requires a max bet of $3 to win the top prize. Megabucks® launched IGT's MegaJackpots(TM) progressive product line in 1986 and has produced 63 major winners, whose jackpots range from just over $1 million (when a million dollars was the system's base jackpot) to the world record slot jackpot of $39.7 million won in March 2003 at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Since then, Megabucks® has hit five times in Nevada casinos, with jackpots ranging from $8 million to $19.5 million. Its last major jackpot was on Oct. 31, 2004 when a 56-year-old retired postal worker won $13.6 million at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. That was one of three Megabucks® jackpots won in 2004. When the current Megabucks® jackpot is eventually won, the base jackpot will reset to $10 million.

IGT introduced its second Nevada Megabucks® wide-area progressive system in March -- a penny video slot version with a jackpot that starts at $10 million. It, too, can be won for a max (300-coin) bet, and its current jackpot total is $10,504,902 (as of June 22). The first major jackpot on penny Megabucks® will easily set the standard for a payout on a penny gaming machine.
