"…Citing a poll that found 73 percent of Nevadans favor a state lottery, Assemblyman Ruben Kihuen, D-Las Vegas, said he will support a lottery, in particular because it would raise $50 million to $200 million a year for textbooks and supplies for public school students.
"The measure passed 29-13, with all but one of the 27 Assembly Democrats backing the lottery proposal, Assembly Joint Resolution 5.
"…If approved by the Senate this session and again by the entire Legislature in 2009, AJR5 would set up a public vote in 2010 to decide whether Nevada should have a state lottery..."
