Muradi wins WPT Main Event for $620,000

With the implementation of the company-wide Safe + Sound initiative, Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood gave players a safe and socially distant environment to enjoy major tournament play. In addition to thermal temperature scanning upon entry and mandatory masks/face coverings policy, all tables were outfitted with protective Plexiglas between dealer and players, and in between players. There was a 33 percent reduction in the number of total tables to encourage social distancing. Each table was played eight-handed, as opposed to the standard nine-handed. All chips and cards underwent routine cleaning, and all areas were sanitized once a player leaves the table and before another sits.
“It’s really amazing. I feel like a million bucks,” Muradi after the win. “Anybody’s dream can come true. You just have to work hard and put in the effort. If you want something, you have to go get it.”
“I actually came here for small events because my bankroll wasn’t enough to play events like this,” Muradi said. “But I got the opportunity because I missed my flight and I came back and played a satellite, and won a seat. In the field were a lot of amazing players. A lot of people that have played most of their lives. I don’t have as much experience as them, but now I’m the winner. This is amazing. I still cannot believe I’m sitting here with these trophies.”
The $3,500 finale boasted a final prize pool of more than $5 million, more than five times the $1 million guarantee. The last 197 spots in the field made the money.
