LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Canadian Scott Montgomery, a World Series of Poker Main Event finalist in 2008, earned his first ever individual event champion's bracelet late Wednesday night.

Montgomery, 28, from Ottawa, topped a 3,102-player field to win a $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em event, earning $481,760.

In 2008, Montgomery reached the final table of the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em World Championship, finishing fifth behind eventual champion Peter Eastgate and earning almost $3.1 million.

According to official records, Montgomery now has one bracelet, two final table appearances, and nine in the money finishes at the World Series of Poker. His career earnings for the tournament now total almost $3.7 million.

"I had a couple of deep runs this year and fizzled out towards the end," Montgomery said. "I feel good to finally get here."
