Mohegans Watching Elections

28 Oct 2004

UNITED STATES – As reported by the Connecticut Day: "Mohegan tribal leaders will be watching election results in Wisconsin and Washington State next Tuesday to see whether their plans to diversify into tribal gaming in those states will go forward as planned.

Tribes have donated up to $5 million in a campaign to defeat the initiative, according to local reports.

"The Mohegans have a 54.15 percent interest in a limited liability corporation called Salishan-Mohegan LLC, which will oversee all aspects of casino development, from taking land into trust, negotiating a compact with the state, arranging financing and planning and developing the casino. Salishan-Mohegan will manage the casino for seven years…"
