Mississippi: State Rep. Bobby Moak introduces online poker bill
14 Jan 2015
Bill 306 if approved would see online poker regulated.
The legislation states "The commission may issue an Internet wagering permit upon satisfaction by a gaming licensee of all terms and conditions required by this chapter and applicable regulations."
The legislation also contains provisions for the commission to deactivate illegal online gambling sites, including taking action against domestic and offshore gambling sites.
Moak's legislation has the expressed ambition to create "an effective state regulatory and licensing system for online gaming (that) would inhibit underage wagering and otherwise protect vulnerable individuals, ensure that the games offered through the Internet are fair and safe, stop sending much-needed jobs and tax and fee revenue overseas to illegal operators, provide a significant source of taxable revenue, create jobs and economic development."
