Mississippi Commission Approves Harrah's-Caesars Merger
MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger: "The Mississippi Gaming Commission paved the way Wednesday for Harrah's Entertainment to become the state's second largest employer.
"Once the company merges with Caesars Entertainment, Harrah's will have a Mississippi work force of 10,000 people.
"The commission approved Harrah's $10 million purchase of Caesars, a transaction expected to leave the majority of nonmanagement employees in place at the five casinos the company will ultimately own in Mississippi.
"…The largest concentration of Harrah's employees will be in Tunica County. The nine casinos there have created 16,000 jobs in the last 12 years, said Webster Franklin, executive director of the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau…"
