Michigan online gambling sets record in February 2024

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $218.5 million total internet gaming gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in February. Gross receipts decreased 4.8% compared to January.

Monthly Gross Receipts
February iGaming gross receipts totaled $188.0 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $181.9 million recorded last month. Gross sports betting receipts for February totaled $30.5 million. Last month, gross sports betting receipts were $47.7 million.

Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts for February were $182.1 million, including $169.2 million from iGaming and $12.9 million from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming increase of 3.1% and a sports betting decrease of 31.3% when compared to January 2024. Compared to February 2023 reported revenues, iGaming AGR was up by 27.0% and sports betting was up by 52.7%.

Monthly Handle
Total internet sports betting handle at $402.6 million was down by 30.3% from the $577.4 million handle recorded in January 2024.

Monthly State Taxes/Payments
The operators reported submitting $34.7 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during February, of which:

- iGaming taxes and fees = $33.8 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $922,324

Monthly City of Detroit Taxes/Payments
The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $9.3 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during February, of which:

- iGaming taxes and fees = $8.9 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $356,663

Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported making $3.9 million in payments to governing bodies in February.

As of February, a total of 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to launch iGaming and/or internet sports betting. Currently, 13 commercial and tribal operators offer internet sports betting, and 15 operators offer iGaming.
