Michigan online betting figures dip in August 2026

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $337.6 million in internet gaming and online sports betting gross receipts in August, a 2.5% decrease from July 2026.

Monthly Gross Receipts
August iGaming gross receipts totaled $303.0 million. August online sports betting gross receipts reached $34.6 million.

Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined adjusted gross receipts totaled $315.0 million for August, including $290.8 million from iGaming and $24.2 million from online sports betting.

Compared with July 2026, iGaming AGR increased 0.1% but online sports betting AGR decreased 21.4%. Year-over-year, iGaming AGR was up 17.6%, while online sports betting AGR decreased by 29.3%.

Monthly Handle
Online sports betting handle totaled $330.5 million, a 7.0% decrease from July 2026.

Monthly State Taxes and Payments
Operators submitted $62.8 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan in August, including:

- iGaming taxes and fees: $61.2 million
- Online sports betting taxes and fees: $1.6 million

Monthly City of Detroit Taxes and Payments
The three Detroit casinos reported nearly $13.9 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees paid to the City of Detroit in August, including:

- iGaming taxes and fees: $13.4 million
- Online sports betting taxes and fees: $494,972

Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported $8.5 million in payments to governing bodies in August.

As of August 2026, 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to offer iGaming and/or online sports betting in Michigan. Of those, 13 operators offer online sports betting, while all 15 offer iGaming.
