Michel Groothuizen new Chairman of the Board of Dutch Gaming Authority
8 Mar 2024
Michel Groothuizen is currently Deputy Director-General of the Judicial Institutions Service. He was previously general director of the Netherlands Institute for Forensic Psychiatry, and before that he was responsible for the administration of the Ministry of Justice and Security Policy Director and director FEZ.
Michel Groothuizen: “Old love does not rust. From 2007 I was in charge of the gaming file as policy director, among other things. One of my tasks was to establish the Gaming Authority. This was successful in 2012. We were already working on new legislation for a few years to manage online gambling offerings. It took almost 10 years before the law that had to regulate it actually came into effect. I was long gone. But I find it a wonderful challenge to ensure safe gambling and negative consequences, such as gambling addiction, in a socially responsible way.”
