MGM Mirage UK Deal in Jeopardy
UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by iLiverpool: "American casino giant MGM Mirage said last night a recommendation by MPs to limit the number of slot machines could jeopardise its plans in the UK, including a possible investment in Liverpool.
"A parliamentary committee, made up of MPs from all parties, yesterday recommended a cautious approach to the development of large Las Vegas style casinos.
"In a report on the government's proposed gambling reforms, members made 139 recommendations including a restriction on the number of slot machines which could be installed in new casinos.
"…But Lloyd C Nathan, MGM Mirage's managing director, Europe, said: 'Clearly the recommended numbers may have an effect on the level of investment an operator might make and the resulting characteristics of any casino complex that might evolve.'…"
