NEVADA -- MGM MIRAGE, through its Primadonna Co. LLC subsidiary, has created a nonprofit group to provide housing in Primm for its employees working at its Primm Valley Resorts in Primm, about 40 miles south of Las Vegas on the Nevada-California state line.
The $18.9 million, 436-unit apartment complex, now under construction, can house up to 656 people. Rent will be subsidized by the casino company and will cost between $350 and $575 per apartment.
The first two apartment buildings are scheduled to open in March. When completed in July, the complex will total 52 two-story apartment buildings and a 10,000-square-foot community center. There will be 72 studio apartments, 264 one-bedroom, 44 two-bedroom and 56 four-bedroom apartments, said Dennis Bonds, project manager for Perlman Architects.
Yvette Monet, spokeswoman for MGM MIRAGE, said the complex is a first for the company.
"Our goal in creating this new complex is to provide our employees with convenient, affordable housing," she said.
The company operates three hotel-casinos and two golf courses in Primm.
