UNITED STATES -– (PRESS RELEASE) -- Countless Mega Millions players from coast to coast had their eyes on the prize in the Tuesday, May 2 drawing. A total of 502,903 tickets won prizes, including 14 tickets that came within just one number of winning it all. No ticket matched all six numbers to win Tuesday's jackpot, so the jackpot for the Friday, May 5, 2006 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $54 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 7-11-22-27-31 and the Mega Ball number was 33.

Those 14 tickets that each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number were purchased in California (1), Michigan (1), New York (6), Ohio (1), Texas (1), Virginia (2) and Washington (2).

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
