Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $95 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- There is no shortage of excitement or winners in Mega Millions. You only need to look at Friday's drawing for proof. A total of 629,081 Mega Millions tickets in 12 states won prizes, including three tickets that each won $250,000. No ticket matched all six numbers to win the $83 million jackpot, so the jackpot for the Tuesday, September 5 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $95 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 5-6-51-53-55 and the Mega Ball number was 12.

Pari-mutuel prizes means that prize amounts vary with the number of tickets sold and the number of winning tickets in each prize category.

The three tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Two of those tickets were purchased in Maryland and one in Michigan.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
