Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $36 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Even though there was no jackpot winner in Friday's Mega Millions drawing, a lot of players still walked away winners. With nine different ways to win, a total of 431,428 tickets won prizes in the May 26 drawing. That includes three tickets that each won $250,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to take home the jackpot, that jackpot grows to an estimated $36 million for the Tuesday, May 30, 2006 drawing.

The three tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Maryland, New Jersey and New York.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
